Instructor : Imam B. Sosrowidjojo Ph.D (Lemigas)

Investment Fee : IDR 14.000.000,- / participant

” The course fee includes meals (2x coffee break and lunch), training kits, training materials, group photograph, certificate. In order to allow sufficient time for arranging travel and processing document, participants are recommended to make an early enrollment. “

About The Workshop :

The 2-day course is designed to provide knowledge base of geochemical techniques that can be applied by attendees to evaluate petroleum system. The course will learn the key geochemical concepts for effective petroleum exploration. The main focus of the course is intended to provide an understanding of petroleum geochemistry that can be applied by geoscientists to integrate diverse geochemical datasets for estimating the amount and timing of petroleum generation, evaluate drainage areas and migration paths. Some of the materials presented are resulted from experience of what works and what doesn’t. The course includes interaction with the instructor through discussions and exercises. At the end of the course, attendees are expected to have a better idea of how to use geochemical tools to answer their exploration questions and guide their efforts in resource plays.

You Will Learn :

  • Fundamental geochemical concepts and applications for petroleum system analysis
  • How to use geochemical tools to interpret petroleum and source rock
  • Sample collections and analytical techniques

Workshop Content :

  • Introduction to Petroleum Geochemistry
  • Source Rock Evaluation: quantity, quality and maturity
  • Integration of Source Rock, Oil and Gas Geochemical Data
  • Migration: primary, secondary and dis-migration
  • Correlation: Oil to Oil and Oil to Source Rock
  • QA/QC Geochemical Data
  • Case Studies
  • Exercises

Who Should Attend :

This course is meant for people who are interested to have a better understanding for petroleum system analysis using petroleum geochemical techniques. Professionals who would benefit from this course include early carrier petroleum geoscientist with little exposure to petroleum geochemistry.

About Instructor :

Imam B. Sosrowidjojo is a senior petroleum geochemist with experience in unconventional petroleum exploration. After more than 32 consecutive years serving in R&D Centre for Oil & Gas Technology “LEMIGAS”, he took an early retirement from there. He pioneered the Development of Coalbed Methane (CBM) in Indonesia and was officially appointed as the Project Director of the first CBM Demonstration Pilot Project in Indonesia. He obtained his first degree in Chemical Engineering from Universitas Diponegoro in 1978, and obtained his Ph.D in Petroleum Geochemistry from Curtin University of Technology in 2005. He was appointed in various professional positions before assuming his latest position as the Research Director of Unconventional Gas Technology in LEMIGAS. He has conducted abundant researches in addressing the role of geochemistry in petroleum exploration and production. He also conducted extensive studies for industries in these fields, demonstrating skills and abilities on petroleum exploration/ development in various basins from Indonesia, especially on petroleum geochemistry, petroleum system, and basin modeling studies. In addition, he is experienced with building reservoir characterization models using hydrocarbon fingerprinting, in particular reservoir connectivity, heterogeneity in reservoir body, fluid flow history, multiple charges reconstruction, and production allocation of commingle well and forensic geochemistry. For the period of 2002 – 2011, he led studies on CBM exploration technology on Indonesian low rank coal. Further on, from 2010 until 2013 he led shale gas exploration project that was sponsored by the Government of Indonesia. Post retirement, he was a Technical Advisor for the Exploration Director in PT. Pertamina Hulu Energi (2014-2015).

Imam also accepted requests for expertise consultation on petroleum geochemist including unconventional hydrocarbon and shared his expertise by being a fellow lecturer at University of Indonesia for both undergraduate and post-graduate students. He has written in numerous publications, both national and international wise, and produced more than 150 technical reports for petroleum industries on petroleum and reservoir production geochemistry.

Cancellation, Substitution & Non Attendance Policy:

Tuition fees are transferable but not refundable. Notification is required to substitute another participant, no later 5 working days prior to the program, should the nominated person be unable to attend. Late cancellation sometimes causes event to be abandoned. Non attendance participant will be full charged as all preparations will have been done.
